Lawyer sues 3 cops for 'assaulting' him
A lawyer yesterday sued eight people, including three police officials, for allegedly assaulting him at Panchlaish Police Station five days ago.
The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court, in which Adv Nurul Alam filed the case, asked the three policemen of Panchlaish police to appear before it within February 25 and issued arrest warrants against five others.
The accused are Officer-in-Charge Pradip Kumar Das, Inspector Azizul Islam, and Sub-inspector Masud Parvez and Md Gulzar, Belal, Bashir, Yusuf Ali and Sujon.
The case statement said Nurul Alam, who was defence lawyer for a murder case accused, was picked up by some unknown men on January 24. They beat him up and handed him over to Panchlaish police the same day, it added.
At the police station, SI Masud, who was complainant of the murder case, beat up Nurul indiscriminately, and he was released at midnight, the statement said.
