The Department of Environment (DoE) stopped construction work of 25 illegal resorts and seized construction equipment from four other sites on Saint Martin's Island yesterday. During a drive, the DoE issued notices to owners of the resorts asking them to stop the work, said DoE Cox's Bazar Office Additional Director Sardar Shariful Islam. Owners of five resorts have built two-story building on the island violating the DoE rules, he said. In another drive at the island, the DoE also seized some 200 bulbs from nearly 50 shops.
