Indo-Bangla technical meeting today

The first meeting of the Technical Committee on Joint Survey of Tipaimukh multi-purpose dam project will began today in Bangladesh where Dhaka will seek more information about the project from New Delhi. Ahead of the two-day technical committee meeting, a five-member Indian delegation arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday to attend the meeting as well as a separate meeting regarding sharing of Ganges water to prepare the annual report. The Joint Committee on Sharing Ganges Water Treaty held a meeting yesterday and visited the Hardinge Bridge point at Bheramara in Kushtia to see the water flow of river Padma. The committee will prepare the report for the period of January 1 to May 31. Officials said a six-member Bangladesh delegation lead by Joint River Commission member Mir Sajjad Hossain is attending both the Ganges water and Tipaimukh Technical Committee meetings. The first phase of both the meetings will conclude on February 2 while the second round of the meetings of the two committees will take place between February 3 and 5 in New Delhi.
