No portrait of Bangabandhu at RU archive

University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman Prof Nazrul Islam yesterday criticized the Rajshahi University (RU) authorities for not displaying the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Martyred Memorial Archive. The UGC chairman was addressing as chief guest the graduation ceremony of second and third batches of students of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) at the Senate building. Terming Bangabandhu as a great leader, the UGC chairman said he played a pioneering role in independence of the country in 1971. 'We all should honour the great leader with due respect,' he said. Prof Nazrul asked the university authorities to display a big portrait of Bangabandhu within seven days of this instruction. He warned the teachers who take classes and examination at private universities instead of taking classes and examinations at public universities. Vice chancellor (VC) Prof Altaf Hossain presided. Prof MA Tajul Islam, member of UGC and Pro-VC Prof Mamnunul Keramat were special guests. A total of 62 graduates got medals and certificates.
