Poet Obaidullah remembered
A daylong programme recalling poet Abu Zafar Obaidullah was observed to mark his birth and death anniversaries at his native village Baherchar under Babuganj upazila in Barisal district yesterday.
Organised by Poet Abu Zafar Obaidullah Smriti Pathagar (memorial library) on the premises of Baherchar Primary School, the programme included discussion on life and works of the poet, competitions on recitation of his poems, prize-giving, and cultural functions.
Poets Belal Chowdhury and Asad Chowdhury, Jugantor Editor Golam Sarwar, television personality Nawajesh Ali Khan, former secretary Sirajuddin Ahmed, the poet's sister Selima Rahman and brothers Rashed Khan Menon and ASM Shahidullah Khan Badal, attended, among others.
