Fair polls not possible under present CEC
Rizvi claims
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, acting office secretary of BNP, yesterday came down heavily on Chief Election Commissioner ATM Shamsul Huda saying, a free and fair election will not be possible under him.
"It is his (CEC) responsibility to hold an impartial election. But he is commenting before media, siding with some groups.
“He has taken a side by questioning the party's (BNP) constitution. An impartial election is not possible under him", said the pro-Khaleda leader while exchanging views with journalists at his Rajshahi residence.
"His repeated biased comments appear to us that he is proceeding with a plan to hold a blue-print election. We can raise demand for his removal", Rizvi said.
"This government has no right to hold local government polls before national election. Local government election should be held by the elected government", he said replying to questions on local government polls.
On BNP's unification process, he said, "Country men know well which one is real BNP. Some vested quarters are conspiring to divide the party and to hold a blue-print election.
“They are seeking unification without release of Khaleda Zia. This unification move is mysterious".
Khaleda Zia should be released before the national election, he assed.
