OC Mizanur suspended, victim's body exhumed
Patkelghata Police Station officer in charge (OC) Kazi Mizanur Rahman who allegedly beat up his wife Sadia Akhtar that led to her death on Thursday, was suspended yesterday following record of the case with the same police station.
The accused police officer has remained absconding after burial of the victim's body at Shahjahanpur graveyard in Dhaka on March 7, sources said.
The body was exhumed yesterday in presence of Magistrate Kamrunnessa and the post mortem will be done today, Satkhira Superintendent of Police Mirza Abdullahel Baki said.
Earlier on Saturday, the victim Sadia Sultana's mother Tayebunnesa Khatun, who is now residing in Dhaka, submitted an FIR (first information report) to Motijheel Police Station in Dhaka as she was unable to go to Satkhira due her ailments, Satkhira police said.
Motijheel police sent the FIR to Patkelghata Police Station that recorded the case against OC Kazi Mizanur Rahman immediately after getting the FIR at about 10:30am yesterday, sources said.
Sadia went to her husband Kazi Mizanur Rahman's quarter at Patkelghata Police Station on February 25 and Mizanur beat her mercilessly, leaving her seriously injured on February 27, the complainant said in the FIR.
