Reception to female FFs in Narail

A reception was accorded to female freedom fighters and wives of martyred freedom fighters at a function held at Zila Parisad auditorium here yesterday. They are freedom fighters Arati Rani Shaha, Purnima Rani Das, Tarulata Biswas, Aparna Rani Biswas and Fazilatunnessa, wife of Birshrestha Noor Mohammed Sheikh, Ayesha Atiar, wife of martyred freedom fighter Tarafder Atiar Rahman, Nur Jahan Rafique, wife of Shaheed Kaizer Rahman, Amina Salam, wife of Shaheed Tarafder Abdus Salam, Majida Altaf, wife of Shaheed Tarafder Altaf. Gono Shahajjo Shangstha (GSS) organized the reception chaired by its president Afroja Khanam. Birshrestha Noor Mohammed Sheikh's wife Fazilatunnessa was present as chief guest while Homaira Begum, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO), Narail Sadar and Rizia Khatun, an elderly female leader were present as special guests. Pakistan Army and their local collaborators (Rajakars) slaughtered eight freedom fighters during liberation war of Bangladesh on July 17 in 1971. Later, they were buried in a mass grave on Rupganj Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) rest house premises.
