Outlaw hurt in police firing while trying to escape

An outlaw who was arrested in Shailkupa upazila Monday night was shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital yesterday sustaining grievous injuries in police firing after a futile bid to escape, police said. He is Munna, of Kacher Kole village and a cadre of the outlawed Biplobi Communist Party (ML). Police also recovered a gun and three bullets from his possession. Police shot at him at dawn yesterday as he tried to escape by firing shots at them at a garden at Kacher kole village where they went to recover arms as per his confessional statement. Bullets of police pierced into his hand and legs resulting in his serious injuries. Instantly, he was rushed to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital from where he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital as his condition deteriorated. When contacted, Shailkupa officer-in-charge (OC) Kazi Wased Ali said the enlisted criminal is an accused of several cases including three murder cases filed with Shailkupa police station.
