Nalchhity UNO, 7 land officials sued

A case was lodged yesterday against eight persons including upazila nirbahi officer and land office staff of Nalchhity upazila under Jhalakati district for attacks on freedom fighter Mahbubul Alam Latu. Kazi Mahbuba Begum, wife of the victim freedom fighter, lodged the case with Judicial Magistrate's Court in Jhalakati accusing Nalchhity Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sikandar Hayat Rizvi, Umar Ali, Altaf Hossain Talukdar, Abu Hanif, Shahidul Islam Sagor, Abdul Baset Sharif, Alamgir Hossain and Humaun Kabir. Jhalakathi Judicial Magistrate Asadulla forwarded the case to officer-in-charge of Nalchhity Police Station for giving investigation report as early as possible. Aggrieved at torture and confinement of freedom fighter Mahbubul Alam Latu following possession of a disputed land property on Friday morning, locals assaulted Nalchhity UNO Sekandar Hayat Rizvi and the UNO filed a case under emergency power rules against several people including Mahbubul Alam. Protesting the attack on the freedom fighter, Nalchhity upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad have demanded immediate transfer of the UNO and declared to boycott government programmes for observing the Independence Day if their demand is not met.
