<i>School students vow to resist graft</i>

It was a different day on the premises of Chapainawabganj Horimohon Government High School as over 500 students vowed to root out corruption from the society. Sachetan Nagarik Committee and Youth Engagement and Support Group of Chapai-nawabganj unit of Transparency International Bangladesh organised the ceremony on the School premises on Thursday as part of their campaign to create awareness among the teachers and students against corruption. Speakers at the function urged all sections of people, especially the youth and students, to come forward to root out corruption, which acts as a barrier to economic development and prosperity of the country. Making the country corruption free is a must for the development of Bangladesh as an emerging nation, they said. Corruption in politics leads to corruption in administration as black money holders are controlling politics sidelining the veteran and devoted persons, they said. Former headmaster of the school Md Mozammel Haque administered the oath taking ceremony where students vowed not to get involved in corruption, neither to tolerate the ill practice. Md Nasir Uddin, headmaster of Chapainawabganj Horimohon Government High School presided over the function. Md Golam Rashid, Member of Sachetan Nagarik Committee, and Iqbal Hossain, assistant programme officer, spoke, among others, on the occasion.
