Khulna CMM orders further probe
Assistant commissioner-in-charge of KMP detective branch (DB) Md. Ali Haider has been asked to further investigate Khulna city Awami League (AL) president advocate Manjurul Imam murder case.
The order was issued by Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Mahbubur Rahman on Sunday.
The CMM has also asked the investigation officer to submit charge sheet of the case by June 3 this year after fresh probe.
Earlier, on March 18, judge Abdus Salam Shikder of Khulna Speedy Trial Tribunal (STT) ordered further investigation of the murder case.
Accordingly, docket of the case was sent back to CMM court Sunday afternoon.
The STT order followed a petition submitted by public prosecutor SM Abu Zafar after Manjurul's eldest son Abdullah Harun Rumi during deposition in court on February 24 named five local AL leaders as masterminds behind the murder.
Rumi also named eight other AL leaders who were aware of the plan.
The masterminds named by Rumi are former Whip Mostafa Rashidi Shuja, his younger brother Doja, Kazi Aminul Huq, city AL secretary Mizanur Rahman and ward commissioner Monia.
