Govt to create buffer stock of food grains

Commerce and Education Adviser Hossain Zillur Rahman has said that the government has taken steps to create a buffer stock of food grains.
Alongside, coordinated initiatives have also been taken to increase agriculture production.
He said a Tk 100 crore programme has been undertaken to create work for the ultra poor in rural areas so that they do not suffer.
Work under the programme will be started within a few days.
The adviser was addressing a meeting of local businessmen at Srimongal in Moulvibazar district, held at the conference room of Bangladesh Tea Research Institute yesterday.
Rahman sought advice and cooperation from business community on as how the market price of commodities could be kept stable. This will help the government make a policy.
He urged the businessmen to do business keeping in mind their social responsibility.
People are facing hard days due to price hike in the international market. The government is alive to the situation and will do whatever possible, he said.
He opined that the government and the business community should work hand in hand to face the market situation.
Moulvibazar Deputy Commissioner Md Alkama Siddiquee presided over the meeting, also addressed by, Srimongal UNO Md Saiful Islam, Srimongal Press Club president Gopal Deb Chaudhury and acting-president of Srimongal Businessman Association Md Yahiya Khan.
Later, the Commerce Adviser attended a meeting of scientists of Bangladesh Tea Research Institute, officials of Bangladesh Tea Board and leaders of Bangladesh Tea Association at Srimongal.
