Mobile blood bank launched in Khagrachhari

A unique move was launched at Khagrachhari hill town on the World Health Day yesterday. The Khagrachhari Hill District Council (KHDC) with the help of joint forces launched a 'mobile blood bank' to collect blood donors for patients and identify blood group of people. The move evoked a very good response from the townspeoeple. Five teams collected about 500 blood donors in the Sadar upazila yesterday after identifying their blood group. The teams will collect 5000 blood donors, the organises told this correspondent. After identifying blood groups, they issued cards to people. The figures were disclose at a discussion meeting organised by KHDC. It was held at Khagrachhari Town Hall. KHDC Member Sanu Mong Marma presided over the meeting while while KHDC Chairman Monindra Lal Tripura was the chief guest. Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Abu Taher, Commanding Officer of MDC, Khagrachhari Sadar Zone Commander, BDR Sector Medical Officer, ADC (General) Mohammad Khalilur Rahman, Khagrachhari Municipality Chairman Joynal Abedin, Khagrachhari Government High School Headmistress Srila Talukder also spoke at the meeting. Earlier, a colorful rally was brought out in the hill town. It was led by Monindra Lal Tripura.
