Court orders arrest of Torikul's wife, two sons
A court here issued arrest warrant on Sunday against two sons, wife and daughter-in-law of detained former minister and BNP leader Torikul Islam and ordered attachment of goods.
Earlier, Monjur Morshed, assistant director of ACC in Jessore, lodged a case on September 9 last year with Jessore Kotwali police station against Torikul Islam, his wife Prof Nargis Begum, two sons Santanu Islam Sumit, Anindya Islam Amit and their daughter-in-law Lamia Sharmin on charge of hiding wealth.
Torikul Islam submitted his wealth statement through Deputy Jailor of Dhaka Central Jail on February 20 last year showing Tk 2.16 crore assets. The ACC after investigation said that in the wealth statement, Torikul's family had hidden Tk 1.26 corre wealth.
The investigation was done by Aminur Rahman, assistant director of ACC in Khulna.
