Task force starts work today
The ten-member Task force to be headed by a high-ranking army officer will start functioning from today to prevent corruption in Khulna City Corporation and provide better services to city dwellers.
The task force team was formed in a high level meeting held in the office of the joint forces in Khulna city on Thursday.
Among others, acting Mayor Moniruzzaman Moni, panel mayors Anwarul Kadir Khokon and Nahid Sultana, Chief Executive Officer Tapan Kumar Ghosh, acting Chief Engineer Nazmul Islam and sectional heads attended the meeting.
The task force members will monitor activities of officials and employees of all the departments to have a transparent administration in the city corporation with a view to ensuring better services for tax paying city dwellers.
Five rooms have been given to the task force team for the purpose, KCC sources said, adding that each official and employee will have to carry identity cards and comply with guidelines to be set by the task force for discipline, diligence, accountability and punctuality.
There have allegations of corruption, nepotism, irregularities and politicisation of administration in KCC during the last 15 years.
