10 hurt as nor'wester lashes 3 districts
Nor'wester on Saturday night and early yesterday injured several people and damaged houses, crops and mango and lichi orchards in Lalmonirhat, Thakurgaon and Panchagarh districts.
Over 100 houses were damaged and at least 10 people were injured in Hatibandha, Kaliganj and Lalmonirhat Sadar upazilas in Lalmonirhat district early yesterday, reports our Lalmonirhat correspondent.
The storm battered Boro and betel leaves on vast areas and uprooted trees, locals said.
The worst affected villages are Dawabari, Chhayani of Hatibandha upzila Shailmari, Chandropur of Kaligonj upazila Gokunda, Durarkuti of Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila.
A nor'wester that lashed different places of Thakurgaon and Panchagarh districts on Saturday night demolished houses and damaged crops on a vast tract of land, reports a correspondent from Thakurgaon.
DAE officials in Thakurgaon said maize and other crops on a vast area of land were damaged during the storm.
Most affected villages are Gorea, Chandipur, Danarhat, Nargun, Akcha and Khochabari under Sadar upazila, Harinmari, Doulatpur, Kalmagh under Baliadangi upazila, Rator, Bisnapur, Bongaon, Amjuan, Sandhari villages under Ranisankail upazila, Burabil, Kutnibil, Bhaturia, Gargaria villages under Haripur upazila in Thakurgaon district.
The storm on Saturday night also damaged many houses and a vast tract of maize and mango orchards at different places of the district, DAE officials of Panchagarh said.
