3 toll collectors held, 4 vehicles recovered
Joint forces arrested three alleged toll collectors and recovered 4 jeeps locally called as Chander Gari from Bethchhari in Kamalchhari union in the Sadar upazila of the district yesterday.
The arrested persons are Ritan Chakma, 25, of Baghmara village; Rimel Chakma 29, and Mukur Kanti Chakma, 43, of Bethchhari village.
The joint forces also recovered four jeeps taken away on the night of April 11 and hidden by them.
Police said, the raid was done following a complaint from Khagrachhari Zeep Malik Samity secretary Shah Alam the that some indigenous people snatched four jeeps for denying to pay toll of Tk 40,000.
Police also said that the arrested persons confessed to their involvement in the incident.
Sub Inspector Mohammad Iqbal said a case was filed and the arrested persons were produced before a court, which sent them to jail.
