25 workers of Nahid cotton mill sent to jail
A court here yesterday sent 25 workers of Nahid Cotton Mills in Mirzapur upazila in Tangail to jail in a case filed for damaging the factory on March 24.
Mirzapur police arrested the workers from the workers union office of the factory on Saturday noon.
Sub-inspector (SI) Mizanul Haque, investigation officer (IO) of the case, said the workers of Nahid Cotton Mills under Gorai Industrial area in the upazila caused massive damage at the factory on March 24 demanding salary hike.
In this connection, security officer of the factory filed a case with Mirzapur Police Station against 40 workers on April 10, he added.
When contacted, Mirzapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jahangir Alam said the case was filed under the emergency rules and the workers were arrested in connection with damaging the factory.
