8 Mymensingh journos get awards
Eight local journalists working for different national dailies were awarded "Best Reporters of the Year- 2005 and 2006 Awards" at a function held at a local hotel here yesterday.
Mymensingh Reporters Unity (MRU) gave the prizes. Its its president Sultan Uddin Khan was in the chair while Mir Kashem Ali, chairman of Diganta Media Corporation Managing Committee, was the chief guest and Shawkat Mhamud, president of Jatiya Press Cclub was the main speaker at the function.
Recipients of the prizes for 2005 are Babul Hossain, Staff Reporter of Daily Janakantha; Md. Aminul Islam of Daily Star; Ataul Karim Khokon of Jugantar and Zillur Rahman Khan of Sangbad.
Recipients for the year 2006 are Babul Hossain, Staff Reporter of Daily Janakantha; Sheikh Mohiuddin Ahmed of Ittefaq and Channel-I; Motiul Alam, Staff Reporter of Manab Jamin; Jahangir Alam Liton, Staff Reporter of Bhorer Kagoj and Shamsul Alam Khan of Inquilab.
A discussion was also held marking the prize giving ceremony. Among others, Additional District Magistrate Nazmul Hasan Khan, Additional Police Superintendent ASM Akhtaruzzaman, municipal chairman Mahmud Al Noor Tareq, Executive Director of Naya Diganta Salahuddin Babar, general secretary of Dhaka Sangbadik Union Sarder Farid Ahmed, Mymensingh Press Club secretary Mozammel Hoque spoke on the occasion.
