Forest official suspended
Abdul Mojid, range officer of Rajkandi forest range, was suspended yesterday for his alleged involvement in smuggling of timber from government forest.
According to sources in Srimongal forest department office, Rajkandi forest range officer Abdul Mojid had given permission to one Tajul Bokhs of Purbo-Jalalpur village in Kamalganj upazila to cut 11 Segun trees from his compound.
On April 2, when the person was transporting the timber trees by two vehicles, Moulvibazar Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) Abu Naser Md Mohsin caught one of the vehicles on suspicion.
After search, he found some smuggled timber trees along with permitted one.
