4 get life for stealing electric transformer in Jhenidah
Jhenidah District and Sessions Judge's Court yesterday sentenced four people to life-term imprisonment and fined them Tk 1,000 each on charge of theft of electric transformer.
In default they will have to suffer one year more in prison.
The convicts are Monir of Kushna village, Abbas, Feroz and Mintu.
On November 19, 2006 the four people stole a transformer after tying up a night guard of Kotchandpur upazila Palli Bidyut Samity, goes the prosecution.
The night guard recognized three of the accused. Accused Mintu also made a confessional statement after which police recovered the stolen transformer from Noapara in Jessore.
Following a case filed with Kotchandpur Police Station, police submitted a charge sheet to the court after investigation.
