4 outlaws held in Kushtia, Sirajganj
3 of them hurt in gunfight
Police arrested three injured cadres of outlawed Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP-ML) after a gunfight at Azampur in Mirpur upazila in the district Saturday night.
Police also recovered some arms and ammunition from their possession.
Tipped off, a team from Mirpur police station cordoned off Pustirmath (a field) where the PBCP men were holding a secret meeting at about 9.30:pm.
Sensing police presence, the PBCP men opened fire.
Three outlaws were bullet-hit while others escaped. Police arrested them and recovered one shutter gun and 18 bullets.
The arrestees are Sumon and Kaber of Kakiladah village in Mirpur upazila and Rana of Houspur village in Alamdanga upazila in Chuadanga district.
Sumon is son of PBCP 'regional leader' Abu Taleb, who was arrested by West Bengal police in India on April 1, and nephew of another 'regional leader' of the outfit Abu Abbas who was killed in a 'crossfire' with police on April 19.
Police took the outlaws to Kushtia General Hospital, where they are being treated under police guard, police said.
Police said Sumon and Kaber were accused in six cases each, two of them for murder and Rana faces three extortion cases.

Detective Branch (DB) police in Sirajganj yesterday arrested a leader of outlawed Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP) from Char Boyra village in Sirajganj Sadar upazila.
Arrested Abul Hossain is an accused in a case for looting arms from Randhunibari police outpost and killing a policeman.
Tipped-off that Abul Hossain returned home Thursday night, police raided the village and arrested him in the early hours of yesterday, police said.
