ACC Case
Tariqul not brought to court for illness
Former minister Tariqul Islam could not be produced before the Jessore Special Court yesterday in connection with charge framing in a case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) due to his physical indisposition.
Tariqul, also vice president of BNP, is now under treatment in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital.
The special court headed by Jessore District and Sessions Judge Md Asgar Ali has fixed May 4 as the next date for charge framing.
ACC Deputy Director Manzur Morshed filed the case on September 9 last year with Jessore Kotwali Police Station against Tariqul Islam, his wife, two sons and daughter-in-law for hiding wealth information.
His wife Prof Nargis Begum, sons Shantanu Islam Sumit, Aninda Islam Amit and daughter-in-law Lamia Sharmin have been absconding since filing of the case. Joint forces arrested Toriqul from his Jessore residence on February 5.
