Woman UP member held for stealing TR wheat
A woman member of Mohishkhocha Union Parishad in Aditmari upazila in the district was arrested yesterday for allegedly misappropriating test relief (TR) wheat.
Joint forces recovered 1.5 tonnes of wheat worth about Tk 65,000 from the residence of UP member Moyna Begum and arretested her.
She hails from Bahadur Para village in Mohishkhocha. She is member of ward No 7,8,9 in the union.
The Aditmari upazila project implement officer (PIO) Altaf Hossain said she lifted 1.5 tonnes of wheat on April 2 for repairing a road at Bahadur Para village in the union. She was scheduled to complete the work and distribute the wheat among laborers by April 15.
But she misappropriated the wheat without doing any work. She submitted a false document on disbursement of the wheat on April 14, at the PIO office.
After visiting the spot, Aditmari UNO AYM Zia Uddin Al Mamun with the help of joint forces arrested her from her residence and recovered 1.5 tonnes of wheat.
She was handed over to Aditmari police and a case was lodged, police said.
