Ex-BNP MP Abdul Wahab asked to submit wealth info
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has asked former lawmaker Abdul Wahab to submit his wealth statement. The ACC in a letter sent on Tuesday has asked him to submit his wealth statement in a week, ACC Sub-Assistant Director Monjur Morshed of Jessore office said. Abdul Wahab, who was elected from Jhenidah-1 (Shailkupa) constituency in 1996, is district BNP organising secretary. Chairman of Shailkupa pourasabha, Khalil, who is a former BNP pourasava president, said, former lawmaker Abdul Wahab cheated many unemployed educated people of several lakh Tk by assuring jobs as he was the chairman of local 20 institutions. He added that contractors had to bribe him before taking work order. Alal Uddin, Chairman and BNP vice president of NO-6 Sarutia union under Shailkupa upazila, said former MP Abdul Wahab took a huge amount of money from at least 29 secondary schools and 11 colleges under Shailkupa saying that he would arrange their inclusion under monthly payment order (MPO). Besides, he took illegal money in exchange of giving food for work project to the elected public representatives in Shailkupa, said the UP chairman. Contacted, former lawmaker Abdul Wahab said he has not yet received any letter from the ACC and the allegations against him are false and baseless.
