Our Correspondent, Nilphamari
The citizens dialogue entitled, 'Jatiyo Challenge Mokabilay Jatiyo Oikyo', scheduled to be held at different upazilas of the district today, has become uncertain as home ministry did not give permission as of yesterday evening. Eminent jurist Gono Forum President Dr Kamal Hossen was scheduled to be present there as chief guest. Citizens committee on April 27 sought permission from Nilphamari deputy commissioner to arrange the dialogues but the district administration failed to confirm the permission as of 6:00pm yesterday on the ground of non-availability of permission from the home ministry, its convenor Abdur Rouf said in a press conference. After the declaration of emergency in January last year, people became very optimistic about a change for the better but the incident shows that there are still some elements who are not ready to accept the change, said Abdur Rouf, who was whip in parliament during pre-liberation period.
