Moeen's promised relief distributed in Bagaihat

Relief goods committed by Army Chief General Moeen U Ahmed for Bagaihat Apreil 20 fire victims were handed over yesterday at Sajek in Bagaichhari upazila in Rangamati hill district. Zonal Army Commander Lt. Col. Sajid Imtiaz handed over the relief goods on behalf of the army chief. Those included blankets, rice, potato and clothes for 180 victim families, who lost all their belongings in the fire incident. Gen Moeen on April 29 visited the area aand also distributed relief goods among the victims. He also committed more relief to both Bangalee and ethnic community victims. Before yesterday's relief distribution, a view-exchange meeting was held at Sajek Union Parishad complex. It was presided over by Bagaichhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shibir Bichitra Barua while Lt. Col. Sajid Imtiaz was present as chief guest. Speakers there said they were under pressure by a group of terrorists not to attend the meeting. Many indigenous people did not attend the meeting and come for relief because of the threat, they said. They urged the government to take steps to improve the law and oder situation in the CHT. Sajek Union Parishad Chairman L Thangga Pangkhuya, officer-in- charge of Bagaichhari police station Mohammad Shahjalal, Maj Kabir Amed and Rupokarbari Union Parishad Chairman Biswajit Chakma were also present.
