Tk 2.5crore heroin, gun seized, five held
Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in separate drives in Barisal and Barguna districts on Monday night arrested five people and seized two kilogram of heroin, one country-made gun and six bullets from their possession, Rab sources said.
The arrestees are Nasir Howlader, 30, Jahir Howlader, 25, of Mour village under Bakherganj upazila, Ful Banu, 32, of Rabipur village under the same upazila in Barisal district, Nannu Khan, 35, and Hanif Khan, 60, of Gazipur village under Amtali upazila in Barguna district, they said.
A Rab team raided a house owned by Nasir Howlader and recovered two kg heroin worth over Tk 2.50 crore by digging earth at the garden of the house. As per Nasir Howlader's statement, Rab arrested his brother Jahir Howlader and Ful Banu, a heroin trader from a nearby village.
A case was filed in this regard with Bakherganj Police Station yesterday.
In another raid, Rab recovered a country-made gun from the house of Nannu Khan of Gazipur village. According to his confession, they recovered six bullets from the house of Hanif Khan of the same village. Both the arrestees were handed over to Amtali police yesterday. A case was filed against them under Arms Act.
