One to die for killing wife, 2 daughters
Special Tribunal for Prevention of Women and Children Repression at Chapainawabganj yesterday sentenced a man to death for killing his wife and two minor girl children.
The convict, Md Liton of Dafadarpara at Dadonchawk village under Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj, was also fined Tk 5,000.
On August 16 in 2001, Runi Khatun's husband Liton and his associate set fire to his wife and daughters four-year-old Sharifa and two-year-old Shapna when they were sleeping at their Dafadarpara residence, goes the prosecution.
Seriously injured Runi and her two daughters died at a hospital.
Runi's parents earlier gave Liton Tk 50,000 as dowry but he got angry when they declined to give more, sources said.
