Contractors seek more fund for govt projects in Rangpur
A large number of contractors enlisted with government departments in Rangpur yesterday demanded allocation of additional funds to complete construction projects.
Most of the projects were approved before December last year. Prices of all construction materials almost doubles over the period, they told a press conference.
Work on construction projects involving about Tk 1000 core in Rangpur is suspended for about one year due to price hike of materials and these can not be completed with earlier allocated funds, they said.
The projects are not included in the compensation scheme announced by the government recently, they said.
Contractor Rafiqul Islam Dulal read out a written statement at the press conference, attended by about 200 contractors.
They also demanded inclusion of projects approved in 2005-005 and 2006-007 financial years in the compensation scheme.
