Pirates abduct fisherman for ransom
Pirates abducted a fisherman with nine boats and 18 fishing nets demanding ransom of Tk 3 lakh from Malanchi River in the Sundarbans last night.
The abducted fisherman is identified as Krishna Pada Haldar, 45, of village Munshiganj in Shyamnagar upazila.
As a group of 28 fishermen were catching fish in Malanchi River, the pirate group belonging to Motaleb Bahini attacked them and abducted the victim fisherman with nine boats and 18 nets, police quoted other fishermen as saying.
They set seven days for payment of ransom, saying that they would kill the fisherman in case of failure.
