UGC begins investigation
A probe team comprising officials of University Grants Commission (UGC) and education ministry on Sunday began investigation into alleged irregularities and corruption at Rajshahi University (RU).
The probe team interviewed a good number of officials and employees at RU VC's room yesterday and the day before, sources said.
The two-member team comprising UGC assistant director Rezaul Karim Hawlader and government audit officer Delwar Hossain will mainly focus on irregularities, RU budget deficit in previous years and its demand for the current financial year.
The RU has Tk 20 core deficit budget, the sources said.
When contacted, the acting vice-chancellor said the investigation is a routine work by the government.
