Complainant of case against KCC mayor sent to jail

The complainant of the first extortion case filed against Khulna City Corporation (KCC) mayor was sent to jail yesterday on charge of forgery. He was sent to jail as chief metropolitan magistrate (CMM) Mahabubur Rahman rejected his bail prayer. Bail prayer of the complainant, SM Hafizur Rahman was filed after his surrender to court in connection with a case filed with the CMM court on March 20 under section 138 of Negotiable Instrument (NI) Act. The court fixed July 30 as the date for hearing of the case. In the case, prominent businessman Khan Kamal Pasha of South Central Road here alleged that the accused had borrowed Tk 3 lakh from him about five months ago.
