The leaders
Sheikh Hasina told the court recently that she suspected that the “Minus Two” strategy was still on. The current issue is different, according to a large section of the suffering citizens, who noted the revolting way in which the dynasty and autocratic rulers of the elected political regimes ruled for three decades. (Today, Nepal is a reminder). It ultimately resulted in detention of hundreds of persons on corruption or nepotism charges, thanks to the independent stand of the non-political caretaker government. This operation has just opened the Pandora's box; and the cataloguing is still on. We need to draft urgent reforms to build up a new political foundation. But the political parties are not cooperating for obvious reasons. An internal revolution is not necessary we have suffered enough; and know of the right way out. It is time the veteran politicians stopped spoon-feeding the citizens; and most of the seniors immediately announced their honourable retirement from public life. We have lived enough in vacuums frequently since 1972, and it is time for a major change in outlook. Boycotting of the general elections by the political parties is not a solution. There is no point in creating bottlenecks and violent demonstrations (although enough black wealth and followers are available for the clandestine operations). There is another point, the global outlook foreign cartels are now interested in controlling Bangladesh; for obvious reasons, repeatedly pointed out in the media. The fundamental discovery by the voters is that the rigged elections did not elect the suitable candidates for representing the people in the parliament. It appears that we do no longer need the famous Louis Kahn complex! This time political stubbornness won't produce the earlier patterns of results. The writing on the wall has to be digested. Men may come, and men may go, but the politicians remain forever! No daydreaming, please!
