Water-logging in Sylhet
A newspaper report says that Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) has taken up a two year project involving Tk 20 crore to resolve the nagging water logging problem in the city by restoring the nine canals and improving the drainage system. The LGRD ministry has already okayed the project.
This is no doubt an excellent idea. But I am afraid once the political government is installed it will be difficult to implement the project due to political intervention and corruption and this may not at all be implemented. Hence, I request the Ministry of LGRD to give the responsibility of project implementation to the Army Engineers Corps which can do the job very expeditiously and may be at a lower cost. Quick implementation of the project will bring immense relief to the city dwellers who will indeed be grateful to the government.
