Spanish inquisition

The Euro 2008 trophy has gone to the right hands. This particular Spanish team deserved it. They played super football throughout the entire tournament. This feat broke the jinx that they carried for 44 years. The underachiever team of the football's higher echelon has now got something to cheer about. This is a collective effort. They played the final without the tournament's top scorer David Villa. Torres stole the limelight in the final but it's my notion that their midfield players played the pivotal role throughout the championship. Fabregas, Iniesta, Xavi Harnandez, Marcos Senna-- all of them played their best football. Emergence of the virtually unknown striker of Real Mallorca, Daniel Guiza, added the additional strength. And under the crossbar there's the invincible Iker Casillas. The football triumph put the ethnic differences aside. Now all the inhabitants of Spain cheer for Spain, now the Catalonians & Basques or others dissolved under a single Spanish flag. Yes, it's the football which has done this! That is the beauty of the game.
