The readymade garments industry in Bangladesh is in jeopardy. It started a few years back--'the unrest', stoppage of work, creating havoc, and damaging valuable assets in and around the factories and even in the streets. Factory owners were flattened, many innocent workers were beaten, even law enforcers were assaulted. The situation is going out of control. It is not clear who is fighting for what? Is this the workers' movement against owners' bad treatment or deprivation? If a factory is burnt into ashes, how can workers' interest be protected? If factories that go by the rules are damaged, then a genuine question arises, why? Unruly workers, leaders and agents, whose negative activities are creating lots of problems, should be brought to justice.
