Bangladesh can do it!
The cricket lovers witnessed the onslaught of Shakib Al Hasan in the first Test match between Bangladesh and New Zealand at Chittagong. Shakib mesmerized the Kiwis with his devastating left arm spin bowling by taking seven Kiwi wickets for just 36 runs. It was a superb performance by this twenty-one year old Bangladeshi. It seemed the Chittagong pitch simply fitted him like a glove. Shakib is a talented player and our “so called” cricket board should nurture talents like him. He was not only good in his bowling but also thrived well in the second innings, scoring 71 runs and boosted a healthy total for the Kiwis to chase.
This match has proved that Bangladesh team has got talents, now if they can increase their patience and temperament, then they will have the ability to beat any team. Who would have thought that it would be the Kiwis, who would be in dire straits and the Tigers would be in the driving seat?
What Bangladeshi players lack is patience in playing long innings in Test cricket. Cricket is a team sport, so out of eleven players if only one player clicks then that is simply not good enough. Several players have to contribute in order to see their side win. Rather than throwing cold water on the performances of our players, our Cricket Board should help them out in every possible way.
We are new in the Test arena and our team definitely has got the talent to live up to the expectations. The present group of players are far better than any of our previous squads.
