Faltering warriors

The headline of Pallab's report (Oct:13) on our cricket team in ICL trophy appropriately sums up our spineless performance in cricket, be it 20/20 or any other format! "Morning shows the day" and I feel that Dhaka Warriors will continue the trend in ICL matches in a similar fashion. One day the batting will go down; on another day the bowling will be wayward and if both click, then poor fielding will cost us the match! That sums up our subsequent performances in the ICL trophy. The same day we predictably faltered against New Zealand in the second ODI match where batting and running between wickets was quite amateurish, to say the least! Coaching is no substitute for a player's application and attitude to the game which we have not learnt. It is all a sad and gloomy picture for Bangladesh cricket. At this stage, BCB should publish a handbook of excuses to define our continued sloppy performances; barring unforeseen wins which is a rare treat! Maybe, we should consider voluntarily coming out of our "Test" playing status. We should win it, if and only if, we can achieve the required standard and capability of winning. Performances alone, and not the support of Asian cricketing countries, should be the basis of winning "Test" status for our cricket team, which is going headlong from bad to worse, day by day!
