Tributes paid to Bhasani

Different socio-cultural and political organisations yesterday paid tributes to the memory of Maolana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani, on 32nd anniversary of death of the great leader . Maolana Bhasani University of Science and Technology (MBUST), Santosh Islamic University Trustee Board and Bhasani Foundation jointly organised a three-day programme at Santosh. Progammes included placing of wreaths at the 'mazar' of the great leader, offering fateha, milad mahfil, special prayer, feeding of destitutes, discussion, voluntary blood donation programme, children's painting competition, session of spiritual songs, photo exhibition, handicrafts show and a fair. Fifty Years Observance National Committee of Kagmari Conference Day also organised a discussion on MBUST campus. Thousands of followers and admirers of Bhasani thronged his mazar premises from different parts of the country and outside. In the morning on the day, MBUST vice-chancellor (VC) Dr Prof Monimul Haque, language veteran Abdul Motin and family members of Bhasani placed wreath at the mazar. Major political parties who placed wreath at the mazar were Awami League (AL), Jatiya Party (JP), National Awami Party (NAP), National Democratic Party, Jatiya Ganotantrik Party (Jagpa), JSD and Krishak Sramik Janata League.
