Boycott war criminals in poll
Sector Commanders Forum tells Satkhira meeting
Sector Commanders Forum (SCF) joint convener Maj. Gen. (retd) K M Safiullah yesterday called upon the people to resist war criminals from taking part in the upcoming parliamentary election.
Urging the government to declare war criminals ineligible for the polls, the SCF leader also urged the people to socially boycott the war criminals as they were involved in heinous crimes against humanity during the Liberation War.
They are enemies of the nation, Safiullah said addressing a view- exchange meeting held at Shyamnagar upazila auditorium.
It was organised by local freedom fighters in observance of the Muktijoddha Day. Veteran freedom fighter Dr Sheikh Mahfuzul Haque was in the chair.
Lt General (retd) Harun Ur Rashid Bir-pratik, Lt Col (retd) Abu Osman Chowdhury, Col (retd) Samsul Alam, Maj. Gen (retd) D Ahsan, daily Samakal editor Abed Khan also spoke at the meeting largely attended by freedom fighters and members of civil society.
The speakers urged political parties not to nominate war criminals or to form any coalition with them. War criminals are misleading the nation by making false statements.
They said Jamaat-e-Islami and its student tfront Islami Chhatra Shibir had formed Rajakar, Al-sham and Al-badr who killed innocent freedom loving people including intellectuals to destroy the nation in 1971.
They said Jamaat leaders Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami, Ali Ahsan Mujahid, Kamaruzzaman and other party leaders are war criminals.
