Police foil anti-Shibir rally at RU
Police yesterday foiled a procession organised by Anti-Fundamentalist Students' Forum on the Rajshahi University (RU) campus.
The procession was organised demanding exemplary punishment to Islami Chhatra Shibir cadres who threatened Udichi general secretary Abu Sayem to death and harassed its activist Hosne Ara Farzana recently.
As the procession came in front of the Mass Communication and Journalism Department, police intercepted it in presence of university proctor Enamul Haque.
Later, a rally was held on the campus where speakers criticised the role of both the university authorities and police for not taking action against the Shibir cadres for organising a demonstration on the campus the same day.
