Foreign fertiliser, arms, fake revenue stamps seized, 2 held
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in separate drives in last two days seized huge amount of Indian chemical fertiliser, foreign firearms, fake revenue stamps and phensidyl from Joypurhat, Naogaon, Rangpur, and Rajshahi districts yesterday and Thursday.
The also arrested two persons including an arms trader.
Rab yesterday seized 28 bags of Indian potash fertilizer worth about Tk 1,20,000 from Pochar Bazar in Pachbibi upazila under Joypurhat district.
On Thursday, Rab seized foreign firearms, bullets, fake revenue stamps and phensidyl from Naogaon, Rangpur, Joypurhat and Rajshahi districts.
Rangpur Rab recovered fake revenue stamps worth Tk 1,84,800 from a shop near Rangpur Medical College and arrested Sajib Anwar, 26, of Shahipara of Rangpur district.
The same team seized an Italian pistol, a magazine and six bullets from Janubari village
Joypurhat Rab recovered a foreign pistol and five bullets from Dhantara village under Noagaon district and arrested Ataur Rahman, 40, of the village.
Rajshahi Rab seized 20 bags of Indian fertilizer worth about Tk 60,000 from Hatibandha village under Godagari upazila in Rajshahi.
The two arrestees and seized items were handed over to the concerned police stations, Rab said.

Rab arrested a man with six bombs at Charjotprotap of Chapainawabganj municipality yesterday noon.
The arrestee, Tajemul Islam, 38, of Chamagram village under Baroghoria union of Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila, was handed over to Sadar Police Station, police said.
