Rift in 4-party alliance in Pabna as Jamaat demands 3 seats
The rift between four-party alliance partners BNP and Jamaat in Pabna district is widening as Jamaat wants alliance tickets in three seats for the upcoming parliament election.
Jamaat won two of the five seats in 2001 parliament election. Jamaat Ameer Motiur Rahman Nizami won from Pabna-1 (Bera-Santhia) and Jamaat leader Abdus Subhan won Pabna-5 (Pabna Sadar).
As Jamaat is demanding ticket in Pabna-4 (Ishwardi-Atghoria) constituency this time Pabna district unit Jamaat Secretary Abu Taleb Mondol has started mass contact in the area.
“We demand Pabna-1, Pabna-5 and Pabna-4 constituencies area this year. But the allocation of tickets will be decided by four-party alliance central committee,” said Md Abdur Rahim, Ameer of Pabna district Jamaat.
Meanwhile BNP leaders said they have sent names of six BNP leaders to the central committee with proposal for nominating candidates in three constituencies from them.
They are Pabna district BNP President Sirajul Islam Sardar and central BNP leader Habibur Rahman Habib in Pabna-4, Saiful Azam Suja, advocate Shafiqur Rahman and KM Anwarul Islam in Pabna-3 and Salim Reza Habib in Pabna-2 constituency.
Several BNP leaders said local BNP is also demanding a party man as candidate in Pabna-5 (Sadar) constituency.
