Students can play vital role to check graft: ACC chief
Chairman of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Lt Gen (retd) Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury yesterday said the new generation, especially the students, can stop corruption as they are yet to be involved in the bad practice.
The young generation can play a pivotal role in containing the trend of corruption prevailing in the country, the ACC boss said at a prize giving ceremony of a debate competition on 'Anti-Corruption' held at Government Ananda Mohan College.
“We want to uproot corruption from the society with the help of the students,” the ACC chief told the meeting.
The ACC chairman distributed prizes among the winners of the debate competition.
Presided over by Ananda Mohan College Principal Prof M Shafiuddin, the ceremony was addressed, among others, by ACC Deputy Director Afzalur Rahman Bhuiyan.
Later at meeting with the officials of district and upazila ACC officials, he reviewed their activities and gave them directives.
Earlier, the ACC chief attended a view exchange meeting titled 'Socal initiatives to fight against corruption' at Nazrul Institute auditorium in Trishal. Among others Vice-Chancellor of Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam Biswabidhalaya in Trishal Prof Shamsur Rahman and Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nazmush Shahadat Selim spoke on the occasion.
