BNP leaders to resist Abbasi's return to party

Twenty-one BNP leaders of Durgpur upazila in a statement issued Tuesday night expressed their determination to resist return of Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) presidium member MA Karim Abbasi to BNP fold. Abbasi won in 2001 elections from Netrakona-1 constituency. He joined LDP protesting the corrupt activities of former state minister Lutfuzzaman Babar. When contacted, Abbasi said he is likely to win the 4-party Alliance nomination.
