Children with asthma

There were nearly 200,000 hospitalisations and 750,000 emergency room visits for children due to asthma in 2004 worldwide. If you're unsure about the severity of your child's asthma, talk to your child's healthcare provider. Uncontrolled asthma could cause some kids to miss days of school, interfere with daily activities, and even possibly lead to a visit to the emergency room. If left untreated, asthma could lead to more serious problems. Children with asthma should be able to better enjoy childhood. If your child is not as active as you think he or she should be, talk to your child's healthcare provider about your child's asthma symptoms and how to help prevent them in the first place. Not all medications are right for everyone. Fortunately, there are many options. Ask your child's healthcare provider if a controller medication might be right for your child.
