Rationing system
I strongly endorse your recent illuminating editorial on food rationing.
Rationing system was withdrawn because it was grossly misused. The real beneficiaries of the rationing system were the food department officials and the ration dealers, not the general public. It has been the correct step to have open market sales in times of food crisis which has benefited the poor people. May be intention of the govt. is noble, but purpose can't be achieved through rationing mechanism. Our resources are very scarce and we can't afford to misuse it to benefit a vested interest group.
So, the govt. should think twice before re-introducing rationing systems.
