Fire fighters' safety

I watched with horror as I saw fire fighters fighting to douse the fire at Mohakhali petrol pump on May 04. I was equally shocked a few days ago to see the fire fighters fighting to put off the blazes at Bashundhara Shopping Mall. Thank you, television channels, for carrying the reports! I was also saddened by the death of a fire fighter at Bashundhara Mall but was not surprised at all. Why? The answer is simple. The protective clothing was not there for the fighters at all. I wonder how many people have to die and how may houses have to burn and how many families have to be wrecked to put on some protective clothing for these brave fire-fighters whose families are being pushed to living hells when they die putting off fire. I draw the attention of the relevant government authorities to take immediate actions to ensure their safety and I also draw the attention of my human rights lawyer colleagues to initiate a writ, if the government fails to do what is needed within a reasonable period of time.
